Something that won't plug with hunks of food that fall off..  You don't want to be sticking a wire up the drain while laying on your back.....

I did a "flow test" on my plates to see where the lowest spot was when the smoker was sitting level.. seems my plates for some reason was bowed even before I welded on them. I guess the beer dont lie. I will need to drill my drain hole here where it puddled up.

Im having a problem with smoke leakage through the door still... need to figure that out...

Not sure what you mean Mr.Dave.... the plates are welded solid all the way around and down the center. I welded a piece of 1" angle on the fb and at the end of the plates. The center seam of the plates are resting on the angle and going upward and outward to the cc giving a little less of a 1" fall to the valley of the plates and about 1" fall from the firebox to the end of the plates. I left the plates standing upright against the smoker for some months so im guessing thats what made the bow in the plates..

Grind the CC where it contacts the welds on the door seal... You should be able to see where they hit... maybe a shiny spot ??????

Yea I tried that last night. I took chalk and went around the whole thing and shut the door never seen nothing... Tonight I ground down the welds inside the door. It helped a lot letting my door fit in place. All but one corner fits nicely but I think that's due to slight door warpage. Now all I need to do is take a hammer and "finesse" the door flanges a little. I think its going to work in the end. Should I go with 1" drains or 3/4"?? Also, Im gonna need to start thinking about adding thermo ports and thermos. Any tips or suggestions?

Got a little more done tonight, it seems like the closer you get , the more little things start showing up that still need to be done... I was thinking back (on post 162) about the hole size and decided to go with 1.5" drain pipe for both the grease drain and the chamber drain. It would take a chickin leg to clog that up. Found out it was a bad idea to use beer for the "flow " test... Smells like crap when you grind on it.

Im gonna try to put front braces on it using the legs that was already on it from the last goround. The back legs will be done the same as the front leg mockup. Im thinking Im gonna drill holes in the legs to mimic the holes on the frame.

 If I have enough metal left over from everything Im thinking adding a 3X2X2 basket right against the front of the smoker to haul wood in.

this is my only complaint on my RF pit I built,  went with 3/4" because it was readily available for a short length of threaded pipe and ball valve at Home Depot and I didnt know any better, but it clogs too easy

its the one thing I feel I need to fix on there, but taking the time never takes priority and I have gotten pretty good with the coat hanger

Man. What a day..... I got alot done today.. grate finished with handle ,, tank and trailer cleaned up, 70 mph pull test, and even found time to fix the Gas grill that crapped out last year. .

Drill a 3/8" hole and weld a 1/2" black pipe coupling over the hole... insert the therm BEFORE tacking the coupling in place...

Thanks for the tip there. Im sure I would have tacked on a coupling and the thermo end up tightening up upside down.... Are these stats necessary if you are planning on using something like a ET 733? Just curious .

Also, can 1 receiver be coupled with 2 transmitters ?  That way you can have 2 CC probes and 2 IT probes and only carry around one receiver.
