Two weeks in a row now the family and I have gone out for breakfast.  My son has ordered pancakes and when asked "bacon or sausage?" has always correctly answered bacon.  However, after taking a few bites of the bacon, he decides that he doesn't want it anymore.  When this happened yesterday my wife and I were taken back a little bit.  It's not like him to turn down bacon.  We usually have to stop him from eating everyone elses.  When we tasted the bacon he was given, it became clear what the problem was.  THE STORE BOUGHT BACON TASTES LIKE ARSE!

I know you all said that once you start making bacon at home you will never be able to go back to store bought, but I didn't think it would happen to me.  He is only 2.5 years old and I think I have ruined him for ever.  I will be making home made bacon for the rest of my life now.  I will have to teach him when he gets older so that he can carry on the tradition.

Oh shoot now that's funny! 2 1/2 years old and already a food critic! Way to go dad!

Actually, that may not be such a bad thing!  As long as he is an honest critic.

I had mad fatties for the third time before my wife actually came forward and told me that she didn't really care for them.  I say tell me right away and I won't make it again.  I would rather make something that everyone enjoys and will get eaten right away.

Everyone has their own taste and personal preference. What kind of fattys have you tried making?

While I have never tasted arse before, I'll take your word for it. LOL!!!

I'm glad to see he is carrying on the tradition.  I've been training my three boys over the years and their wives/families are going to thank me for it.

BTW, my father and three brothers are also excellent cooks.  My father did it right as well.

I have made Jalepeno/cheddar, philly cheese, and the bacon explosion.  Her complaint is typically that it is "too much bacon".  I think it is more that she likes her bacon REALLY crispy, and that is hard to do on a fatty.

My son is quite a bit older but has the same opinion on home made or store bought. He says the peppered bacon I make is the best he has ever had. He has no desire to do any kind of cooking or smoking. He just waits for me to make it.

Yea I know what you mean. You could crank up the heat at the end of your smoke if that is possible or throw it on the grill to crisp it up but it still gets kind of soft after it cools down and you reheat it. You can make them without bacon as well if that would help her like them more.
