Hot Weather

This is the reality across parts of Northern Ontario today.
Major wildfires are burning around us. Highways are closing, communities are being evacuated, and many families have lost or may yet lose their homes and camps .

Many Americans who came up to my neck of the woods are high tailing it back home as wild fires burn lodges they were staying at. Many I talked to say sparks from the fire were landing on their boat tarps and burning holes in them.
This is at 7PM out my picture window tonight. i will be sleeping with one eye open.
All it will take is one hot spark and the village I live in will be gone.

Good luck, we had those orange days a few yrs ago. the fires stayed away from us, luckily. My brother too this picture out of his bedroom window at 3:00 AM when the fire department woke him up to evac.
By the grace of God the wildlands fire crews set up their headquarters and camps in the field across the street from my bro's house. So they used airdrops to save their camps, which saved my bro's house.
I'll post up the photos in a second.

We're praying for you, don't hold out too long.
Dan

The first picture is out of my brother's bedroom window, those Italian cypress in the bottom of the pic are 30' from his bedroom window.

We have a few fires going on in Colorado right now but the smoke from them hasn't been nearly as bad as what you have. As smoke goes where we live it has been mild. Hopefully you will get some much needed rain. We have been getting rain lately but not enough yet bay a long shot.

Now we are dealing with smoke from all the wild fires in the area. Hot weather and smoke sucks big time.

The best thing I bought during our wildfires was this filter.
It saved me from having to go to the hospital for breathing treatments.
I bought 4 extra filters and kept it running 24/7 for two weeks in a small bedroom. It truly saved my ass, as far as heat goes, I have no problems with going to a hotel or motel that has AC. We did it the year our power was going out because of the wildfires, it was totally worth the money, think about it.

Good luck.
Dan.

Dan those are horrifying pics! I hope I never see anything like that here.

They say rains are coming next week...hope we make that long. its hot dry and windy...after the dryest winter on record. Lakes are drying up and lots of fires on the western slope.

no I don't have central air to cool us down.
Ever look into a portable A/C unit? Works for a room or two and can be moved to a bedroom at night. Just a thought.

Got some big fires in northern Minnesota too. Not as back as you have from your pictures though.
