Help NOW please - Whole Duck - Scarbelly inject or no ???

Smoking a whole duck yet today,

Usually just rub down w Old Bay and stuff, and smoke.

I have never injected anything before, but after reading about Scarbelly wings, got an idea.

Considering scarbellying this whole Duck, asking for opinions/ suggestions.

Odd idea, who knows, could be good.

Also, considering doing a test and injecting just 1/2 of da burd.

Will be searching and reading about poultry injection till then.

What do you guys think?

Always be straight and direct w me, pleasantry not needed.

Thank you Dirt.

Toying w idea of injecting a teriyaki marinade we use instead.

Either one would be fine w the Old Bay already on it.

Again, I have NEVER injected before.

Looks Fantastic Disco!!! Looks like you're putting the mini through its paces!! Hope you're enjoying it!

That's how I make wings for my boys, as they don't like them hot either. I too inject them. I like to mix pineapple juice with my teriyaki to thin it out a bit and add some additional flavors!

Now I wish we had some frozen OJ, Apricot jam, or something in the house.

Store 35 minutes away.

Hmmmm.....   Maybe I can reduce a can of jellied Cranberry.   Marc
 
What a Wonderful Country we live in.

Saturday afternoon,cheap Box wine,  OldBay rubbed Duck sitting on table, patiently waiting to be injected, reading here about that, computer in LR on elevated coffee table, TV behind, watching "Man, Fire, Food" episodes.

Thank God for a great life.

And a Beautiful, Sweet Missus at her desk.

And, living near a Air Force Base, I Thank the amazingly skilled people that wake me up in the mornings w their flyover practices, to keep it that way.

Come on guys, rip my shingles off and break my windows, I LOVE it.

Kinda feelin alone here.

Everybody must be doin stuff outside or in shop or somethin.

Anyway - Took 1/3 stick butter, 1:1 w hot sauce, plus few TBSP sugar, boiled and cooled.

Put almost all in the duck, about 35 injections.

Seemed pretty filled to max.

My first time injecting anything but my belly Dunlap roll w insulin.

Already rubbed w Old Bay.

In totally preaheated Masterbuilt Analog smoker at it's max of around 290. (60 outside, no wind, shade)

Well, won't be doin that again.

I dunno, just not good.

Tougher than usual, and no moister.

Buffallo taste I'll leave for chicken wings.

Shoulda done somekinda teriyaki/ orange or something.

Really seemed tougher than my usual just dry brined.

So for leftover meal I cut some up and wrapped tightly in foil w some BBQ sauce and few TBSP water.

Baked a while.

DEFINATELY more tender then, but still just not pleasant.

My first fail.
