Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this group. Very interested in learning from y'all and hopefully be able to share a little myself. I'm 66 years old, retired after working third shift for 30 years and enjoying my retirement. I highly recommend retirement but not working third shift for 30 years.
I'm a beekeeper, enjoy astronomy, and eating smoked meat. My dad and two of his brothers started a community wide BBQ in 1992 and we just had our 27th edition of it this past Saturday. I've been helping them all these years and now since my dad has done gone on to his eternal home, I have taken his place as a full time partner. I'll post some pictures as soon as y'all get to know me a little better to show you our system for smoking pork shoulders.
I don't have a personal smoker but I'm in the market.
I live on a 35 acre farm in northwest Alabama where it's hot and dry and has been all this summer and now into fall. I have planted all but 12 acres in hardwoods and use a couple of acres for sowing buckwheat late spring each year for the bees to forage.
