Just made a batch of Fried Pies   Apricot and some Raisin    "NO NOT REALLY"

I didn't make em one of my Wife's running buddies made em for me She will make me a big batch every so often.

I guarantee these are the best Fried pies I have ever had

This lady is in her 70's  Old school cooking  she uses 2 cast iron skillets and keeps here grease clean, Makes her dough 2 days before she make pies. Been doing them that way all her life said that was the way her Mother did it.

She really is she likes staying busy all the time. She and my wife get out every Saturday and make the Garage sales and thrift shops.

And she loves to go to to the Casino

Hey Gary. I'm with Bear--apricot all the way.

Lucky man to have her making you pies.

Sounds like a lady who is enjoying life. Miss Linda's Aunt Ness lives out in Vancouver BC. She's 76 and goes hiking in the mountains with her club constantly. Those tough old Ladies will probably outlive all of us.

My Grannie could make the best fried pies. She never used her canned fruits, those were for eating. She's always used dried fruits and peach and apricots were what she liked best! Its a real art to making those pies so they are not greasy.  She always made either fried pies or Kolache's when we came to visit!

Great memories.......

Yep, She is real picky only a certain brand of dried fruit, she checks the date and feels the fruit through the bag.

That's memories for me too.My Granny cut her applies up and dried them on top of her low porch roof in big tray's she had.She keep them in a cloth sack in her pantry. Her pies look just like those, man were they good.

My mom used to make them also, but not with fruit very often.  Our favorite filling was a mix of cacao powder, sugar, and melted butter mixed into a paste.  Crispy crust on the outside with gooey melted chocolate inside.
