Pulled the trigger. Should be here on the weekend.

Looking forward to using it. Want g to dry common soup vegetables. Use them with some canned chicken or beef for quick soups.

Easily fit 15 pounds of sliced onions,. Sliced them 4mm on a mandolin. No room left for carrots.

Ok people with dehydrating experience.....

Onions have been in for 19 hours at 135 but still not done....

Dehydrating in my detached garage if that makes a difference. 19 degrees outside, 40 in the garage.

Normal?

Thoughts?

Im in the camp of bought one but don't use it as much as i thought. Its a good one, but i guess my imagination isn't good enough. I made jerky and dried the green onions from the garden.

looks good . A lot of moisture in onions . I like to do onions , tomatoes and peppers . Then grind for chili powder .
I don't have a dehydrator , I just use the oven or MES .

Watery veggies take forever unless you can slice them paper thin. Careful doing hot peppers too unless you have a big space. They get quite 'fragrant' and can irritate some folks eyes/sinuses.

Ha, did habaneros a few years ago, luckily put the dehydrator on the porch. Walking the kids to school the next day it was like pepper spray on the porch.
