Pulled the trigger. Should be here on the weekend.
I've never dried onions, but most everything I have dried, I run the temp at 165℉ and everything is usually done in 12 hours or less...Onions have been in for 19 hours at 135 but still not done....
Ha, did habaneros a few years ago, luckily put the dehydrator on the porch. Walking the kids to school the next day it was like pepper spray on the porch.Watery veggies take forever unless you can slice them paper thin. Careful doing hot peppers too unless you have a big space. They get quite 'fragrant' and can irritate some folks eyes/sinuses.
hmmm never thought of onions, what do you use them for?Nice and crispy!View attachment 728476
I ground some for powder already. I want to dry some corn , peas, carrots and potatoes.hmmm never thought of onions, what do you use them for?
BA350, I think your onions took longer just because of the 40* temp and a uninsulated dehydrator. Probably couldn't keep the desired temp. It will be quicker this summer . :)Ok people with dehydrating experience.....

Dehydrating in my detached garage if that makes a difference. 19 degrees outside, 40 in the garage.
Normal?
Thoughts?
