Complete Noob from Illinois

Hey everyone!!!

I discovered this site searching for information on rub and sauce recipes and found a wealth of information above and beyond that.  I've been browsing for a few days and would really love to become part of the contributing community as my skill level and knowledge base grows.

To start with, I've literally never smoked any meat in my life.  I'm a novice griller, but would really like to get into smoking - from pork butt to brisket and everything in between.

I will be purchasing my first smoker soon and can't wait to do my first cook.  However; I'm not sure which one I'll be going for..nor do I have a budget in mind.  But there's still time to decide that.

Hopefully, with all the information available here (and other places on the net) I'll be moderately successful...at least to the point where the food will be edible.  I have already signed up for the "5 Day Smoking Basics eCourse" and look forward to delving into that bit 'o information.

And lastly, thank you to all the contributors of this forum.  It's online communities such as these that make the internet such a wonderful place.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!  And to answer your question, bigwheel, I'm an Illini fan...but I don't follow college sports too much.  Fact is, I live 45 minutes from the University of Iowa (enemy territory)...and I get tired of hearing about those squawkeyes (especially with my GF being one).  So I tend to ignore it...

Welcome to the forum im new hear also Ive been smoking a while but I have learned so many tricks hear from smoking pork butts to smoking cheese only warning I give you is it for sure addicting :). I go in the chat room alot these guys know about every thing you need to know and its good to get so many diferent Ideas thaillandphil and e-man have helped me alot good guys have fun and if I can held let me know.

Hey Rocket hear you on the anti sports thing. Ever since a goofy boy named Jackie Smith dropped the only pass he ever dropped in his life in the Super Bowl one year and got the world famous Dallas Cowboys beat by some rag tag bunch from up North I only try to watch the ladies Beach Volleyball sport. I got sewercidal over the dropped pass. Promised I aint going to get that emotionally involved ever again..lol.
