Hi all, my name is terry. I live in nw Arkansas. Been smoking with a cabella's 7 in 1 for the last year and my regular BBQ rusted out on me, so I have just purchased a brinkman trailmaster le (mostly because of reviews from ya'll)Looking forward to all this site has to offer. I have already signed up for the 5 day e class. Spent yesterday curing my new grill ( had no problems getting it up to temp) , I had read a lot on this forum about the brinkman and did the appropriate sealing. Planning on a pork butt to break her in. Glad to be here.

Hi there DC smoke here from Texas tell me in NW Arkansas , do you use hickory ?

in northeast Texas I use oak for bed of coals then pecan also mesquite. I love hickory just don't have a lot of it . I would be willing to trade oak and pecan for hickory from some one kind of close to Dallas .good luck with your new smoker.

In the past, I have been buying apple and hickory, mesquit . We do have a lot of hickory around here along with many other good wood species as we are heavily wooded. Planning on gathering my own, may even try some wild plum.
