Pood doesn't like me brushing out mats. He hates it. So, I just usually cut them out. He hates the process of being cut, but once it's over he loves being without all of that fur. It seems to free him of having to groom it for awhile, which furthers laziness. Actually, the Wegies are very loyal animals, like dogs even. Some owners call them their cat/dogs.
After Hurricane Ivan, the power was out for a couple of days and it was hot. With no electricity, I could provide no relief for The Pood. Once the power came back on, Pood laid on his back under an A/C register for the whole cycle coolin' it. Now, that was funny to see. Smart cat. I have since purchased a generator and plan on getting a window unit for one bedroom for after the storm. Our power comes up pretty quick after a hurricane, I believe, because we are on the same circuit as one of the hospitals.
I heard, Norwegians are actually descendent of Miane Coons.
Pood will sit still for a while because he enjoys the vibration of the clippers, then it starts to get old. He let's me know when I get to an area where he is very sensitive. For the most part he is very good about it. Even when he goes to the vet, he's very good. The taste-tester says he's purrrfect.
They have a double-coat which protects them from the harsh environment of Norway. Hard to wash and cut. I use a size 30 blade to get down to the undercoat, then switch to a size 10 to finish closer. Even oiled, I have to switch blades because they start to get warm.
He hates car rides though. However, we took him on the road when I worked IBEW in Naperville, IL - Chicago, IL - Joliet, IL - Detroit, MI - Toledo, OH and Lima, OH. For the most part he hated the snow, but I just had to have some snow pics of my cat. Nothing is prettier than a long-haired cat against a snowy background. I can't find them right now, but here is where I got the idea.

Wait, here's one of them, not that good because all I had was a non-digital camera and was new to the technics of scanning and adjusting scanned pics. When I wrote the comment on the picture, I thought Pood was partial NFC, but we have since found out he is a NFC.

I posted this I think in 2002, when it was snowing in Naperville, IL. I had just got this computer. I misspelled "window" along with other typos.
