I am South of you Just North of LA. I have been here my whole life but have visited enough of the world to know I would still rather live here. It sucks how bad our corrupt gov has pretty much destroyed this state but stupid voters will never change.

The heat this week is unexpectedly bad. High of 111F on Friday. They say at least it's a dry heat. My electric bill doesn't agree. The wife and niece want to keep the house at 72F but sorry we have to increase it for now at least a few degrees for few days.

At least I was smart enough to make an early beer run this afternoon before it was all bought out for the 4th of July. I stocked up and saved. Was at Walmart at Noon and the Miller beer guy happened to be filling up the cooler. I asked him if he had any 30 packs. He had two on the pallet so I asked him and he handed me both he had. The but Light fiasco has made getting Miller Light harder to get.

If I went later I would have to go elsewhere. I kind of miss getting kegs but that is another story of how CA sucks.

Texoma is the same almost every year. It's hot. In 1980 we had 42 days of consecutive 100° days. Back then I drove a 1968 mustang that had no AC (true story)

I'm gonna cook some burgers & hot dogs on my new kettle today.
Happy 4th of July everyone. Let's go have an awesome day!

Weather here in Wisconsin has been pretty cool and comfortable for the most part. The issue we are having this year is a highly unusual amount of rain. I had to pump out may back yard a few times already. I pumped it out yesterday and found out a lot more rain is on the way again. These weather patterns are really getting awful for a lot of us. Hang in there.

DAMN! You guys must be melting! We went over 80 once so far. Woke up to 42 this morning with a forecasted high of 72. Almost no one has AC, just throw open the windows and cover up At night.
I need to be somewhere around Ouray or Silverton in my Jeep right about now. AC never stops running during these events 24/7

Working around asbestos my whole career in the building trades, in the S.F. highrise buildings, refineries, military bases, shipyards, and Federal buildings has taken a toll on my lungs, and this smoke, and heat are kicking my butt.
People that haven't been there don't get it . Fiberglass , fire rated drywall , dirt and concrete dust . Shit kills you , but when you're young you don't think about that . I've always tried to decide if I wanted to be in the oven ( inside ) , or the broiler ( outside blazing sun ) . Outside had fresh air , but that sun was a mofo .
feel for you guys, that have to deal with high humidity,
Gets overlooked . I coached youth soccer K thru 8th grade . Family moved up here from Arizona . It was 85 and high humidity . They were having a hard time adjusting to that .

Was gone camping for a few days... cloudy and rainy half the time with some wind. I sure didn't complain about needing a hoodie with highs in upper 70s and not bad on humidity. But our time is coming. Nothing like walking outside at 6 am into 90% plus humidity. And as of end of June we have had our yearly amount of rain in 6 months.

It feels like the devil himself farted on us, it's been 108* plus out here for the last 4 days.
Yesterday was 110* and it stayed 90* until 10:00 PM, it's now 1:30 AM, and it's still 78* and to make things worse, it's smokey due to wildfires. Today and the rest of the week are supposed to be 110-112*, I don't even need to start a fire to smoke things, I can just toss it on the driveway.
At least we haven't lost power yet, so the AC has been working overtime, (I prob just jinx us).
I can't wait to see our next power bill, it looks like hotdogs for the rest of the month...LOL!!!
I can't handle this crap anymore, I want out, so I can complain about something else.
:emoji_anguished::emoji_disappointed::emoji_laughing:
We've been lucky down here in the "Miami-ish" area. running mid 90's with 1000% humidity.

I might try some cooling wear, but the towels arent what I need. I need to be out in and around the woods chainsawing and spitting wood. Wearing a towel is pretty awkward.

The idea of keeping some ice water nearby for soaking a towel or shirt and cooling the body has got my attention. I told my wife I needed to start keeping a half dozen shirts nearby because I soak through a tee shirt in minutes.
I would die!!!
Anything above 90 these days is too much for me.
And you are absolutely right, CA sucks bad these days.

Without getting political, the whole country will become like CA, if Newsom makes his way to the big house.....you can bet that!!!
That's me, actually anything over 80 in the direct sun for me. Sure, I can sit and sip a drink in that weather, I'm talking about working. My life isn't about sitting around outside, chillin. I heat primarily with wood. Keeps the power bill way down in winter and you can never count on LP, like gasoline, it can fluctuate a lot. Leave it to the greenies and we'll roast AND freeze...they dont want human kind around much anyway...

I am so thankful that our governor and attorney general is decoupling us form California's insanity. The fools in charge of recent years tied Virginia to that foolishness but the AG found a flaw in their law and we are out of that ridiculousness as of end of 2024...until the fools get control of the governor's mansion again. America is definitely on the precipice. The next 4 months is going to be a ride for sure.

Ha ha! That's kind of a dichotomy. But I get it, I'm born and raised Virginian and have never wanted to leave, even though the imports and immigrants in the DC area and the Military Industrial Complex in Tidewater and other areas and cities have changed our politics for the worse. They arent Virginians, they bring that crap to Virginia...mostly. We DO have some rednecks still stuck in the 60's. I'm always shocked to meet them, talk about a dichotomy.

The rolling hills of the VA Piedmont is where I call home and cant imagine a better place to live. We dont have too much issues from hurricanes, seldom have an earthquake, dont have tornadoes as bad as some...our weather is truly 4 seasons. It's African hot right now and it can get below zero, but in-between, it can be paradise.

When people start talking "climate change" I like to recommend they look in to the carboniferous period. Wikipedia use to have a real concise breakdown of the comparison of then to today, but the controllers of media have realized it was contrary to their climate narrative today and have made it much more obscure with gobs of verbiage to have to wade through. Bottom line is sea levels were up to 120 meters higher than today and Co2 levels were something like triple if I remember correctly. What ended the period is a drop in Co2 to the point vegetation stopped growing, then the rest of life died...and Imagine this, Man was nowhere around. All that happened before we began to scar the earth.

Microfiber cooling towels . If you have to be outside , or get overheated , they really do help .
Soak in cold water then wring them out . I got mine from Amazon .
The lady that lives next to me gave me two Frog Tog Chilly Pads/ towels, they work pretty good if you rotate them. :emoji_thumbsup:

It's been 85-90 here in northern NH with some terrible humidity. I've been splitting and stacking firewood and as others have said a t-shirt is soaked quickly.

Now, why wood* you go and do something like that?

Don't answer that, I know all about it, I poured a concrete pad for our new hot tub last week in 107 degrees, I've never claimed to be smart.:emoji_laughing:

Yup . Keep a couple in a cooler with water and some ice . Gives quick relief . I got overheated on a job back in the 90's . Once that happens , it doesn't take much to get sick or woozy .
Exactly, I've had heat stroke more times than I can count, from doing rough in plumbing in this 100 degree crap. I think the worse time was at a field trials for my last Lab. It was 112* and hardly any shade, They would've canceled it these days, we were a lot dumber back then I guess. The dogs had frozen 2 liter water bottles in their kennels with fans blowing on them, we did not. LOL
I was sick for a week that time, it was pretty bad.

Lucky for us, it cooled down yesterday, from 110* five days straight down to 98*. For the next 7 days they are calling for over 100* again...happy, happy, joy, joy!!! Our AC/ electricity bill is going to be close $1000 for this month.
Too many more months like this will make solar panel installation look reasonable. We just bought a 220v hot tub, but we won't be able to afford to heat it at this rate. LOL

Got a cold front move in. High 72 and rainy. Lots of rain, 3-4 inches. We are getting that hurricane weather that hit Texas over the weekend. Looked at the weather forecast towards the end of the week and high in the upper 90’s.

I had a 9 person with the blower setup on it . Pumps outside air into the tub . In the summer , you turn the heater all the way down , then you can run the blower and get in . Pretty nice really .
I budget my electric bill , so it's the same every month . So I'm not real sure how much it used , but I think my bill dropped about 25 bucks after I got rid of it .
