DaveOmak, good afternoon sir, I think you will be mighty pleased with those Dixondale onions.
Well, Onions poking up today, cept for spring ones, put a little deeper, 75* and gonna rain this week they say.The do require lots of water and nitrogen.... Dave
Planted garlic last fall. Friend gave to me. Heirloom i think, pick in August. Got wild garlic growing which grandmother pulled and gave to me and grows and spreads and spreads and ......Planted some garlic and dill last weekend. Ground still too cold / wet to work. Rhubarb is starting to sprout.....asparagus won't be too far behind.
I don't know about the rest of you, I love winter cold snow under my boots, ice crystals in the trees. But I'm done this year.....come on Spring!
Started my jalapeños in anticipation of warmer te
Third year I think.... they are very good onions.... good folks..... great service...... I like dealing with them.......
Well here we go. Gonna dip to 25* they say. Taters poppin out just barely. To much to cover, 19 hills. Don't know if they will be affected. Never been up on a hard freeze. Ground is still warm, but we'll see.Third year I think.... they are very good onions.... good folks..... great service...... I like dealing with them.......

Well taters were burnt on top, and plenty of leaves below the burn. You just plant it and it comes up doing good, and.... gone. We're doing good now. Ready for other stuff to plant.Taters can with stand a pretty good frost. You should be ok.
Texas be good..
And we store our onions how? Mine get on screen stapled to 2x's raised up off floor in basement. Just seem to have to use fast. Taters also. They do last a while but not long enough. Well guess onions do last. Taters are harder. Never clean taters, just throw on screen. Heard about drawers with dirt. By the way every onion came up and can't wait for green onions. Week or so.300 onion plants..... 100 in each apple bin.... alfalfa bales in the bottom and chicken manure and mushroom compost on top......
AND ........... Here is to not bending over to weed.... and hopefully a solution to weeds.... PERIOD ......
If you are storing in your basement? You mite have a ventaltion problem potatos like cabbage and other produce give off a gas that will ruin the other produce and itself.you need a good air flow to keep the air fresh. This should help your potatos last a little longer.

Just hit me, the ex would braid them and hang, but not in the quantities I got now.I dry the onions on chicken wire screens on wood frames too..... Reds keep the best and I just finished up last years and I'm on the last bag of shallots..... Store that stuff in mesh onion sacks hanging in the store room....

First pick of the year. Dave, how long does it take for alfalfa to cure? Seen a 2013 poston cutting. My grandpa, who had a grade A dairy always bought it in Nebraska, saying it would cure quicker. He refused to raise it, cause it can rain alot on first cuttin'

I don't plant anymore....... BUT, what I learned by accident was that the latticework that goes around the bottom of my house, which I had a bunch of old sections in the barn was unbelievable for drying onions. As long as the rain doesn't go down thru the top the onion didn't rot, if it rains on the bottom facing up I had no damage. I just dropped those onions down thru the lattice.I dry the onions on chicken wire screens on wood frames too.....
