With the new format I seem to miss a lot of threads, I think a lot of you guys are missing them too. I usually go to the "recents" to see what is going on, and sometimes I can go back 6 or 7 pages & there are threads with just 1 or 2 comments on them. Gosh on the old format you would see threads with 40-50 replies, now if you get 10, it's a miracle. Maybe it's just the weather & nobody is thinking about smoking food or there are a lot of new members on here & the threads disappear much faster. I don't know, but if I miss one of your threads, it's not because I'm not looking for them or I'm not interested in replying to them. I just never found them. So I'm kinda apologizing in advance if I don't see your finest work!! :)
Are any of you having the same problem?

Morning Smokinal

Your right about trying to find thinks one minute its there then gone only be found later. Very confusing at times. Recents should be recent but I don’t think they get there immediately hence you miss things. Look at it this way it gives you a break from posting. Catch up might be a bitch though.

I agree. I’m not as active here as I used to be, but I did notice threads get buried a lot more quickly. It used to be that when a thread was replied to, it got moved to the front of the recent posts page. It was a constant shuffle of the most recent replies. Now they seem to just sit there at the back.

I agree Al the old forum had I think 50 views per page, this has 20 and only goes 10 pages = 200 I've seen that many welcome post in a few days.So yes a lot get missed

Yup for sure a lot has been lost with new forum. Some say things are coming back but like when? Very difficult getting around new forum. I don't see a lot of the old timers on here anymore and I don't spend as much time on here either. Just seem to be losing interest in it.

You do a good job getting to.most everything @ smokinal. I don't mind going to say hello to some of the new people if I see only 1 or 2 have in a day. I see a few get in there and do that also. Good to see.

I agree also . Going to " recent " leads to missing out on alot . If it's a curing thread , were time is involved before the finished product is done . It's almost a sure bet you will miss the last half if you don't receive an alert or rely on the recent tab .

I was wondering if was just me and the way I have this new website set up for me. Yes, the "recent" forum just doesn't act like what I've been use to.

I want my money back!! LOL:D. Dude (to self),, take a deep breath and relax!

I almost exclusively use my phone. I hit the New Posts icon and scroll through. I respond to the threads that I’m interested in which I’m automatically subscribed to. Seems to work okay?

I know exactly what you mean, Al.
And I always worry about guys being disappointed that I didn't at least comment on their Thread.

One of the reasons I think is because once you make a post, it goes to the first page on the "Recent" list, but it only takes it about an hour or less to move to the second page.
I believe on the old forum, it used to take a few hours to leave the first page. And if it was a slow day, it might take all day to move back.

Someone mentioned that each thread you visit or comment in Will notify you . But it will not notify you every time there is a new comment. You have to reestablish the process.. I think.. lol

I get an e-mail for each new post. And when I log on, there’s a drop down list of new activity on the threads I’m subscribed to. But that’s the mobile version.

I agree that I used to look be on here much more with the old format as it seemed easier to use. I am getting the hang of it better and utilize the Recent tab often.

I hate to say it, but I am also on about 4-5 groups on Facebook and they have anywhere from 25k-120k members each. When you post something on one of those groups, you get anywhere from 10-100 replies within 48hrs. Some replies are good and some are childish. There is also a lot of BS and bashing on those sites which i dislike. I refer a lot of people to this site if they want solid advice on builds, cooks or recipes.

This place is hands down the biggest and best source of info I have found and always come back here when looking for something. If I'm on my phone I'll look at the Facebook sites and when I'm at work on computer I am always on here.

My suspicion is that mobile device usability went up which in turn means more new posts causing a faster churn on the "recent" list.
Just a guess :)

Well for whatever reason it is, I want to apologize to anybody that feels I didn't answer a question or comment on their thread. I just flat ass didn't see it! But I will definitely keep at it!
Al

I agree Al, seems a lot more difficult to follow posts. The old forum software would sort out unanswered posts. And you could answer them posts.
I know software updates is something that needs to be done. But with the upgrade I don't think we have as many posters.

I was getting that for a while (notifications for posts "you are watching" or when someone quoted you), then it just stopped a couple of weeks ago. No big deal really. The drop-down on the site works fine.
