A Charcoal Chimney that lasts. Hopefully.

I bid farewell to another charcoal chimney due to rust this weekend, so went to Lowe's to get a replacement this morning. $25 now for a replacement that will rust out again in due time, and that got me thinking...I own a welder, hell...I even have a laser shop to make it pretty, I'll just make my own. I left and headed over to a metal-fab shop and grabbed some 1/8" steel, so now I'm sitting here conceptualizing a design and think I have a good idea of what I want. Put my ideas into canva's ai generator and after some tweaks, this is what I landed on:

So time permitting, hopefully I'll have a woking prototype this weekend, and depending how it turns out, I may decide to add it to the shop.

Hopefully this will be a chimney that out-lasts me, from my calculations it'll weigh in at about 11 lbs.

That'll be a beast--it should serve you well!

I would consider a longer standoff for the wooden handle, considering how hot the chimney will get in use--I'd worry about the wood starting to char.

Yeah, I had planned on that, just couldn't get canva to do exactly what I wanted.

And maybe a heat shield between the handle and body plus a swing arm to help dump it. Some folks will find that to be too heavy to manage with one hand.
