OK folks here's a headsup fer yall. I just got a phony paypal email sayin my account was limited an it gave a case number an looked real good. Before I did anything with that I checked my credit card account an there ain't nothin wrong there.

Checked with paypal an no problem there. Sent them a copy a the email an then deleted it per there instructions.

Paypal will send you emails but it will have yer name as stated on yer account included in it. If anything ya get from paypal doesn't it's bogus. Forward anything like that to: [email protected].

Keep yer eyes peeled folks, oh yeah, I'm changin my password there again!

I got one about a week or so that said they needed to update my info . I didn't even click the link , I just forwarded the whole thing to paypal . They emailed back a couple days later and said it was a scam .

I am starting to worry about my paypal account. This is the 5th or 6th time I have seen this and I have received a number or "official" paypal allerts

I had to do that a couple of times already Paypal was great about it and yes the pishing notice looks really real. They warn you that if you get something from them and are unsure to type in Paypals URL into your browser and don't click on any link in the phoney message. Delete it immediately.

Man I wish they'd catch these guys and put them away for a long stretch.

We had a couple of them from "Craig's List".

We were selling an organ (music----not human).

We got an email from someone who even typed with broken English. He/She never even mentioned the item we were selling, didn't ask anything about it, just wanted to send us a check for more than we wanted. Then they wanted us to use the extra money to pay for the shipping, and send them a check for the amount not needed. I smelled a rat & just copied & pasted one of the stupid sentences in the email into a Google searchbox. It went right to a "Craig's list scam page" word for word. LOL----Form letter scam.

I'm thinking of unchaining a couple of my bears on 'em!

I have gotten them in the past also , and do the same thing. forward to the spoof@paypal then delete. never ever click on any of the links they give you.
I have also gotten fake ebay emails that look real too.and just go to my ebay acct. and look in messages. if its not there too, you know its fake for sure

I've received several of these as well. The first one almost got me because it certainly looked official but fortunatly I was a little suspicious and typed in the paypal url directly and my account was fine. Now I just delete.

When in doubt on any email always type in the url in the address bar. I never click on a link in any email of questionable origin.

Another good email tip: Never open attachments from anyone you don't personally know and trust. (Potential virus)

Correct advice! NEVER click on the links in the phony emails. In fact opening the phony email can be dangerous too. If you have doubts, just go to your PayPal account there will be a notice when you log in if anything is required. Some senders have the flag for confirmation if their email is opened, which confirms that your email account is a good email address. Then your email goes on a list that is shared among other mass spamming entities.

Regarding using PayPal, personally I prefer using PayPal, instead of giving my personal CC or debit or checking info to dozens of parties. We do several purchases each month online, and if the price is close we will choose the paypal vendor first.

Don't know how many do what we do:
We have a special credit card for when we aren't using Paypal. We only use it on the internet. It has a "low limit". If we got ripped off, it would be kept to a minimum.

Paypal and Ebay users always beware of the spoof emails. They are trying to get your password to access your accounts. I have seen some Ebay spoofs that are very realistic. Remember once you get one of the spoofs to change your account passwords.
