...from smoking. I cooked some holiday meat of course, but for the most part, no smoking was done this winter.
This past fall, my parents deeded the family cabin to Amy and I. My Grandpa built the place in the 50's, and other than a fresh coat of paint here and there, it had remained relatively unchanged, that is of course, until it became ours. It was in serious need of updating. A little damage here and there needed worked over. New plumbing, new electrical. My folks said they are getting too old for regular maintenance of the place and said they'd rather have us take care of it and they could just go down and enjoy it.
So this is what we did. I won't bore you with the all the pictures, just the before/after shots.
First up, new electrical service/panel
Living room
Dining room...yes, that is a bed in the dining room. :-p
Kitchen (off of dining room)
I thought I had some "completed" pictures of the kitchen/dining room on my photobucket account...I guess not. I'll upload them soon. :-)
Garage converted to bedrooms.
Me and my brother in law added the french doors.
New bathroom.
My bro-in-laws wife demo'ing the old sheetrock
The wife doing some demo as well.
New bathroom...with a SHOWER!!!
Things not pictured...all the hard work :-D
I also re-plumbed the place with pex lines. Added the sink to the bathroom. We tore out all the carpets and tiled the entire cabin (except bedroom). We started in earnest last October, took off Dec. and Jan (too cold down there) and started back again in early Feb. We just finished the bathroom last weekend. As far as weekend long projects, we are DONE. There's still a few loose ends to tie up, some trim here and there, a couple outdoor projects, but the lions share of the remodel is complete.
