That says , " It's stacking text " . That's one example of what mine was doing before I switched it to default style .
I would get 2 words to a line , sometimes 2 letters .

I can still read mine but now it looks different all of a sudden -- kinda like HEB (our local supermarket) moving everything around every few months because they think if you cant find what you always buy, you will start buying the stuff that no one wants...

OK there is is - I never changed anything but I had to go select SMF Classic Theme to get things looking normal again...

If it aint broke, DONT FIX IT. :emoji_thumbsup:

TulsaJeff TulsaJeff I only had the issue using classic style on one laptop which I use with an external monitor and was able to change the resolution until it displayed correctly again. This was before y'all got done fixing the code. Everything is working fine for me ..... I'm on the laptop with the external monitor now.

FYI The SMF Classic Theme now shows folk's join date and reaction score right justified whereas it was previously center justified.

It's hard to find good coders these days... :emoji_wink:

TulsaJeff TulsaJeff Since you mentioned reaction scores (which were done away with because of abuse), The reaction score icon is actually how many posts one has made, not how many times their posts have been liked, so there is still some fixing needed.

I've been on the SMF Classic theme, then suddenly today, I was switched over to the ULX Brown theme. Ugh! I just switched back over to SMF Classic theme, Hopefully I can stay there.

Basically, it's causing the posts to appear like a vertical column. And the right side of the page is taking up way too much space.

Scroll down to the bottom of the screenshot I posted in the first post, and you will see what mean.

Thanks a bunch, Jeff.

Dan.

forktender forktender I studied the image you posted initially and it looks you are on a really narrow screen or maybe it's a normal sized screen with an increased zoom level.

While I don't have a lot of flexibility on what I can do else it will knock it out of kilter for almost everyone else, I have made a small adjustment that may help a little.

Let me know if it's any better for you.

I have the same problem. Use to be, when you would magnify the page on your key board, the entire page would magnify, now the boxes magnify...i.e. the boxes on the right get larger thus making the message boxes narrower.

Normally I adapt to change without any problems. But...I stuck with the classic theme for my phone. It was just more intuitive. Time to go look with my computer.

Edit: Hmmm...yeah, I'll stick with the classic theme.

Mine also switched itself to ULX Brown a few days ago and I just thought that was the new norm.
I just tried the Classic and that's where I'll stay. If I can.

can you guys let me know if the forum is still having issues for you?
Jeff , I switched back this morning to classic and it's way better than it was .
I would say back to the way it was before . The similar threads at the bottom of the page are displayed correctly . Before they were stacked vertical . Single letter to a line .
increased zoom level.
This made a light bulb go off . I figured out the screen resolution played into the problem , but didn't think about zoom . Reset to 100 % made it even better .
Thanks .

The new styles (brown and orange) were built with close attention to clean code and doing things correctly rather than just "making it work".

The SMF Classic style was built by someone else and even though a lot of you have gotten used to it and seem to like the "look" better, the code is horrible and a nightmare to work with in the backend.

If you prefer the SMF Classic, what is it about that style that you like? Colors, font size, something else?

Just curious and maybe I can try to work on something that is coded cleaner that also looks and feels a lot more like the SMF classic theme.

I like the colors, the fonts, the font sizes, the proportions and the layout. Its very easy to navigate and read in my humble opinion. I use Windows 7 Professional on a 12-year old computer with the Firefox browser.

I know that coding can be a beast - especially across platforms...

Colors and fonts don't have much of any impact on my preferences. Ease of navigation and whether something is intuitive on first look are what draw me into engagement.

I've switched back to the new brown version on my Android phone. Last night I realized that choice is reflected on my Win 10 computer, too. That's good.

I often wipe my browsing history and cookies to save space and avoid search-related ads, which logs me out of SMF. It took me a few minutes to realize the "key" symbol at the top is how I log back in. Once logged in, there is no personal avatar to confirm that fact unless I hit the side menus (3 lines on the left / 3 dots on the right on my phone). The side menus are very intuitive and familiar. Great!

I'll use the new style for a while until it becomes second nature, too.

Put the personal avatar back on the top once logged in.
