Hello! Just joined the page and excited to learn! My name is Nate and I'm living in Belleville Illinois about 20 minutes west of St. Louis.  So I'm ready to start smoking my own meat. Only experience I have is staying up all night with my cousin tending to my grandfathers block smoker back when I was a wee lad. As a welder/fabricator, the idea of building my own smoker popped into my head the other day while eating at a local BBQ joint. So this is where I will start my adventures in smoking. I have located some 18" dia. pipe in my shop and after some light reading, sketching, and dreaming, I've settled on doing a reverse flow offset with a 36" smoke chamber and a 12" firebox. I'm pretty excited to get going on the project and to see how it will evolve and test my resolve as a fabricator. But then I need to learn to use it. So I am happy to have a place to come and revieve feedback, tips and ideas from everything to smoker building, recipes, sauces, rubs, etc. Looking forward to talking with you folks!
