I'm at it again.... Too many threads of "Snack Sticks" not to mention the number of threads on "Home made Mozzarella"... That is a different story....
Back to the "sticks".... So I checked on tubes available for my Grizzly stuffer... seems the LEM tubes fit..... Well I have this PEX tubing around from re plumbing the guest house and DIL's house.... they call it 3/8" PEX... I think that is I.D. anyway it is about 13mm O.D..... perfect for edible collagen 17-19 mm casing and making sticks... Now if I can shove the beef thru the tube, I've got it made... I haven't tested it yet but on these cold long winter nights I needed something to do....
Here is the process....
Tubing flare tool, tubing and torch...
Insert the tubing in the flaring kit and apply a gentle amount of heat all around the tubing.....
apply pressure to flare the tubing and heat as necessary to continue flaring....
After heating and flaring this is what I ended up with.......
I inserted the new tube into the smallest tube...18mm and trimmed to have a clean fit
I do not have collagen casings yet... I will order them soon... this tube should be long enough and hopefully I can push meat thru it... If not... Oh well... it is a long cold winter...........
Thanks for looking and hopefully I gave you some ideas on making your own stuff... it can be fun...
