Even in Florida it's getting to be soup weather.
I smoked a ham a couple of days ago mainly to get the bone for bean soup.
Here's the ham.
There's a lot of trimming to do.
All trimmed up.
I injected it with Tony C's Praline Honey Ham marinade & coated the outside with brown sugar.
Into the Lang, running around 225.
I basted it with the pan juice every hour, and it only took about 4 hours to get to 140.
Look at the pullback on the bone.
I rested it under foil for 1/2 hour & the IT went to 145.
Time to slice it up.
It's nice & juicy & tender.
Good smoke flavor & the Tony C's gives it some sweetness.
Served it up with some German potato salad.
Had to have a sammie for lunch the next day!
Now on the the soup. Soaked the beans overnight.
Got the ham bone ready.
We just put what ever we could find in the fridge in the soup.
No real recipe to follow. Everything into the crock pot.
About an hour before it was done we used an immersion blender & pureed some of it.
Also added a couple of pounds of cubed up ham.
And there you have it. Soup for dinner!
Thanks for looking!
