As many of you know, I finished my RF build a couple of months ago. Well, I've found out you never "finish". I've got modifications running thru my head at all times, especially when I've got it fired up!
My BBQ Team, Full Metal Pork, got to compete in Memphis in May this year! pretty cool, right? it was our first year at MIM..... it was our first BBQ competition EVER! We had a blast, learned a ton and met a lot great folks. Looking forward to next year and honing my competition skills at some smaller events.
We started off the week getting interviewed by FOX and you can check it out on this link: http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/story/22287616/war-with-cancer-inspires-full-metal-pork
Without any comp experience and the team being from Ft Worth to Nashville to Savannah, TN. we didn't have any practice time together before hand. We settled this as brothers do: Smoke-off. each do a couple racks and we decide. RF Smoker whooped them. so a added bonus for me was bragging rights and being the Pit master for MIM. We placed 53 out of 128 Rib teams, not bad for some rookies on a new smoker! had a couple curves thrown our way. we improvised, adapted and overcame.
Here's some pics of our area, food and comp day
Thanks again to all that helped me with the design, build and tweaking (I'm not done yet )
