Guys & gals I picked up a 22" kettle out of the trash the other day.

Today I was feeling like a pizza, soo I put the kettle to work .

Just cooking a Freshetta frozen brick oven pizza. Smoked with a bit of Applewood.

Well it smells delicious 😋

nothing like free, this looks good to me.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. Now if I could only figure out how to get Thin Blue Smoke on a kettle. I would be OK.

My 22" kettle was a kick to the curb rescue.
Thin blue smoke is hard to obtain with a charcoal fueled cooker.

Nice find DT, and that's an unusual first smoke. It actually looks better then some frozen pizza's I've done in the oven - show off. LOL

TBS will come once the lit briquettes are mostly ashed over. I like to bury the wood in the charcoal and not set it on top. I feel this helps keep the wood from flaming. Reach out when you use it next and we'll help you out with any questions.

Point for the score

Since the kettle is a rscue... Check both the bottom and the top and make sure they are good and round (not oval/egg shaped)... This will help with a better seal when the top is put on... Air leaks around that area makes for a fight when trying to control temps...

Pizza looks great...

Lol yeah I think it is egg shaped, like it fell over. Lid only fits 1 way.

It is giving me this feeling I should buy a SNS kettle to try.

it's got a few years on it.
I've got a '91 out at my Mom's , and a 1974 Happy Cooker that looks like a 22" Weber .
Found an old wood handle in my tool box . So I use it as a template to hack out some new ones . When I get bored I run some .
Not exact , but they work .
