Yup that's the old daisy wheel. I like that set-up a whole lot more than the one-touch they have now. Enjoy that elder statesman.

Yeah I think the reason it was set out next to trash, was the grates are rusty & thin. Kettle seems solid. Might spend some money on it.

What wood did you use on them handles in that Pic?
I found some Missouri wild cherry in my firewood pile . This was cut out of a 16" split . Still had the bark on it .

My kicked to the curb find was very round and also the old vintage. New cook grate and charcoal grate and I have a Weber. The lid has blown off a few times, but still round.
Sadly it hasn't been used in 2 years since I got a Jumbo Joe. Only 2 of us for grilling and I have the pooper for smoking.

Yeah I see a lot of guys on here that can make a mean meal on the kettle. I'm sure if I use it enough I could figure it out.

Maybe make me a custom jobby out of it. Cast iron grates & such. Maybe add my Thermoworks billows kit to it .

I turned my kettle into a dedicated pizza oven using the “Kettle Pizza Kit” works great with some modifications to stone height.
