i used the slices of puffball as pizza crusts. brushed with olive oil and baked @375 till started to color. then i took them out and flipped over. then sauced and loaded up with what toppings i had. italian seasoning, onion, button shrooms, summer sausage chunks, red pepper flakes and cheese. wasnt a half bad lunch. i still want to do a chicken of the woods bbq pizza with these crusts. they really make it shroomy! i did these in oven but the grill worked better last time if you want crust dryer.

What a great idea. I'm always looking for new ways to use them. They are out in my area now. I'm gonna go look for on and give it a try.

That would fit my low carb / keto diet!! I messed up and hit a nice puffball last week with the mower. Hoping another pops up.

Looks good!
Only wild mushroom I can positively identify are chanterelles. Anything else scares the heck out of me.
A friend recently took an outdoor mushroom hunting class. She found a good-sized lobster mushroom her first time out. I didn't even know they grew around here.

rains are popping shrooms hard here. son found huge batch of chicken from the deer stand the other day. i made chicken noodle soup out of some yesterday that wasnt too dang bad! i simmered the chicken shroom in broth and lemon juice(to help break it down). then added 2 cans of campbells C N S and some seasonings. yea i know it was a cheat but it was a short cook for lunch.

Cool! I went through a wild mushroom phase for a few years. Went across the street to my neighbor one time to ask permission to harvest a huge skull puffball shroom. Fortunately they had not used any chemicals on their lawn. I made puffball Parmesan with marinara. Never thought about pizza!

Puffballs are the easiest because they are all edible. Just be sure to cut them. it doesn't take long for bugs to get inside them. Always cook wild mushrooms.

for a short time this year i could have made bbq chicken of woods puffball crusted pizza with shaggy mane mushroom on top! lmao now that would be a "wild" yummy pizza!! lmao
