i can not get mine to set temp on food below 176, smoker temp temp adjustments no problem

Most probably a bad probe, do you have a spare to try? If not just in case, I would check batteries and then buy a probe. Todd at AMAZN sells 'em and really has good service. Never hurts to have an extra anyway. Course I have only blown out one probe in over 12 years, its not really common. Course now that I said that I blow two this week..... drats!

on about the 10th try it worked, must have been a problem with the part connected to the buttons, namely my fingers.
