Hi SMF
Not sure where this tip should go but for preserving my ol faithful CG Pro w/sfb I strain the oil from my fryer through a wore out sock into a plastic coffee container and use the oil to brush up the metal.

This is a little off subject kinda but last night had a guy stop at work with a Ford F150 that he retrofitted. He dropped a Mercedes turbo diesel engine and transmission into it. It ran on used fry oil. His brother owns a restaurant and he gets all the used oil from there. I thought I could smell french fries when it was running!!

Oh no, that gear oil is nasty by itself,

get it on your hands and they'll smell for days. I can't even imagine what that would smell like if it got hot.
