This is Harper I've had her a little over a month, Will do the Embark DNA test later on just to know for sure but I think she's mostly Staffie as she's definitely got the webbed toes. The last couple of dogs I've had I got as seniors and the girl in my avatar was almost 6 when I got her. I didn't know that that breeds lifespan is usually about 8 yrs. She made it to 9 but she had cancer the last 3 months.
I decided this time I was going to get a younger dog, thinking 2-4 yrs old. Yeah, somehow I walked out of the shelter with Harper, a 9 month old puppie. I'm used to it now but every morning watching her zoomie from one end of the house to the other for hrs....What have I done?
She was "partially house broken" meaning she'd go outside if she happened to be outside. It only took a week and 2-3 accidents for her to get the idea. She gets my attention, walks a few feet away and stops, looking back like, "Follow me". Then leads me to the patio door. A few weeks in, I was eating some sausage and crackers and gave her the last bite. Showed her my hands and the plate were empty, its all gone, no more. A minute later she's doing her follow me routine but leads me to the fridge! She knew there was more sausage in there. Since, she's done it with the peanut butter cupboard, the dog treat bowl on the counter, and her bowl if she thought I may have shorted her a little on her kibble. I'm a little worried about what else she might come up with.
