One of our pups is going in for surgery tomorrow. She was spade in September but displayed heat symptoms towards the of March. Vet had an ultrasound done on Azul, turned up several pieces of tissue in areas where it shouldn't be. I am more than a bit concerned...

Hey inkjunkie,   the bond between a person and their pet is really something special.   The  mutual loyalty and devotion that both parties have

is something that non owners can have a hard time grasping.   I can wholeheartedly understand your concern.

I'm sending a bunch of positive thoughts your pups way.

Good morning. Just saw this post. Hope everything goes well for Azul. It should as it doesn't sound like the surgery will be too bad. But you always have that concern to deal with. You know how I feel about dogs, so both Roxy & I will be thinking about her and sending nothing but good wishes.

Our Dogs are members of our family, Hope all goes well

Thanks for the well wishes folks. I feel horrible for having to put her thru this. Azul & her sister Mita are pretty much inseparable. The other day when we took Azul for the ultrasound Mita stood in the corner of the yard, barking in this weird manner. Was almost like she was crying. When we got home Mita greeted her like she hadn't seen her in years.

Azul is home.....and beyond out of it. She is pretty much cut from front legs to rear legs.

My heart goes out to you and your pup.

I had to make a phone call to our vet this week in "preparation" for putting our dog down.  Cried like a baby when I was talking to my wife about it (she's out of state for the next few weeks).  I'm putting it off as long as I can but I can't keep doing it forever.  She has a few bad days then one or maybe two good days.  Definitely not something I'm looking forward to.

Sorry to read this. We have two elder dogs...sadly we are approaching that date for Queenie and Red as well...

That's a heck of a war wound Azul has.  I just wasn't expecting anything as drastic as that.  Probably gonna take her a while to fully recover.  Hoping for the best.

Does Azul have to wear a cone?  I figure likely.  I used to laugh my head off whenever either of mine had to wear one..just too funny watching.

Real sorry to hear this news.  We just had to go through that, and it makes life terribly sad.  But, as much as you don't want to, you have to do what is best for your dog.

She should be fine, because the Dr that almost killed me doesn't practice in Washington State.

No cone...yet. Azul nibbled at some food several times today. She managed to sneak out the doggie door and was out trotting thru the yard.
Parents had a Cattle Dog. Max was a true psycho at heart. When she had to wear a funnel she figured out how to use it ad a weapon....

Hoping for the Best for Azul !!Thumbs Up

Thanks Bear.

Just hand fed her some. She is starting to look more alert...
