Hi all:
Really new to the smoking world. I love to cook and got inspired after a visit to see a friend a few months ago who had an electric Masterbuilt smoker. I grew up in Texas and have always loved smoked meats but don't have the time, energy or inclination (my hubby REALLY doesn't) to own one that requires a lot of work. We live in the Tampa Bay area and decided that the electric smoker was just the ticket for us and bought a 40" Masterbuilt in early June. So far we have had excellent luck with the few things we have smoked (butt, salmon, brisket and skirt steak). I have read a ton of threads for each of the meats mentioned and did a fair amount of research (can't help it - it's just who I am). Have gotten some excellent advice and recipe tips on here. I was most worried about the brisket and followed some tips to the letter and was rewarded with a wonderful 4th of July feast. My mom came over last night for the smoked skirt steak and was still talking about the brisket. Thank you to everyone who posts, includes pics, gives tips and answers questions. I'm sure I will be reading many more posts and asking questions of my own in very near future. I know, I know - some people think that electric smoking isn't the "real deal" but it is the only thing that fits into my life. Happy smoking!
