Hey all, brand new smoker (both the cook and the MES), and from first use after seasoning, it leaks around the bottom of the window.  Nothing major, still works fine, but I get streaks of brown juices running down the front from the window.  Is this normal?

thanks,

Dave

You have too much moisture in the smoker...  I would replace the water in the pan with clean sand... and open the exhaust wide open...

gotcha.  been reading up on the to water or not to water discussion as well, so I think I'll give that a try.  wonder if warranty would cover this as well.

I only use water in the smoker for stuff that will dry out and l don't add sand to the water tray either. MES don't get hot enough to heat the sand to be of any use

Cayotica, morning.... The sand acts as thermal mass to maintain even temps...   I'm surprised you don't understand that...

Oh l understand all that thermodynamics stuff and how the sand could help maintain the temperature but l'm in Florida and temperature isn't really much of an issue here except in the summer when it already hot enough to slow cook with out the smoker. LOL [emoji]128514[/emoji]
