Hello everyone, new guy from Alberta Canada, new to this forum, started lurking the other day as I am looking at building an offset reverse flow. (24” x 70”) They are definitely not common up here so I am creeping the forum for some ideas I guess. Been cooking very regular on Big Green Eggs for years now, have a Bradly electric that I use for doing bacon and jerky. Enjoy cooking outdoors year round and I’m excited to add an offset that can be used for larger functions. (Wasn't sure where to be posting so this was posted twice)

Okay I'm new to smoking for about 4 weeks now I have a barrel grill with side firebox and so it may sound stupid but what is a reverse flow smoker and how does it work? And so what kind of flow would you say my barrel grill smoker would be? Sorry for dumb question but not familiar with some of the terminology like reverse flow. Would this be similar to a cold smoke with heat going opposite way?

A reverse flow has a plate in the bottom so the smoke & heat go under the plate then out the end & back across the food then out the exhaust. It will have the stack on the same end as the firebox.
Here is a photo of my Lang RF.

Absolutely, I use them year round and on some of the coldest days we can get up here, no effect or not enough to notice. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks Gary, I heard you might be the guy to answer my question about loading up the CC to much that I posted the other day?

Sometimes I load mine to the Max. As long as you maintain your temp and leave a little space around what you are smoking for air flow.
