Brand new to the smoking world here in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida. After several months of research I used an extra bass pro gift card and picked up a Masterbuilt Sportsman elite vertical smoker. Smoked a rack of spare ribs yesterday using the 3-2-1 method and they came out alright. A little to Smokey for my liking but will dial that back next go around. I had some heat loss at a couple points in the smoke but nothing fluctuated to drastically. Can’t wait for the next go around!

Hmm.. you used more than a couple loads of chips?
Anyway, good luck on future smokes. Never had a MES . All kinds of tricks to learn for different cuts of meat. Ribs.
Welcome to the show. Be safe and have fun!

Welcome Aboard! Also remember, you don't need smoke the whole time, and different woods have different degrees of flavour!

Nice to have you aboard. You will get better and better results as time goes by and you learn the nuances of your smoker. Don't sweat it. Just eat the evidence and move on with a full belly.

Welcome to SMF from Indiana! It takes some time to learn your smoker and what techniques work for your tastes. Good luck on future cooks, and remember to take pictures. We love Q views.

It’s gas. I have 5 smokes in it now and absolutely love it.

Thanks Jay!!
You should mention that in your posts about your smoker.
It keeps people who don't know the difference from thinking you have an MES, like Post #4 above.
And like I said, "Welcome to SMF".
