Morning,

Just joined the forum today & as per the automatic message I received from TulsaJeff, I thought I'd post a quick note here..

I'm 24 & currently live just outside Glasgow, Scotland.  Very new to Smoking and Curing, after buying a book I've only tried curing ham once so far which went horribly wrong!  As such, keen to do a bit of reading on the different techniques and styles available before giving it another go.

So that's about it.

Thanks,

Ryan.

Hi Ryan, welcome onboard. Glad to find a Scot who's not battering or deep frying stuff !! Well done trying the ham, even the failures have value on the learning curve.

Bit further south for you but the Uk group are having a camping/bbq get together in August, there's gonna be loads of tips and valuable information to be picked up as long as we don't get too refreshed.

Graeme.

Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the note :).  Not all of us north of the border are into deep fried Mars Bars!

I seen the thread around the trip earlier on - looks pretty good.

Thanks,

Ryan.

Hello and welcome Ryan from East Texas, lots of folks on here who can help with curing and smoking.

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

I was in Camden Lock in London a few weeks ago and one of the market stalls there with the biggest queues was....

wait for it....

wait for it..

various commercial chocolate bars (including Mars) coated in batter and sweet 100s & 1000s and deep fried !!!

I will not poke fun at the Scotts about that again - LOL
