Hi all,
Been a while since posting and wanted to share my latest smoker mod.
I use an MES30 analog with a slow smoker attachment and an Auber PID. I did several out-of-the-box modifications to the unit and posted the writeup a couple of years ago:
The complete lack of insulation on this thing had been a problem from the get-go. It'd never get above 225°F.
To fix this, I wrapped the MES in a welders blanket and built a cedar wood panel enclosure for the side and back walls. Pictures below.
Wrapped with a 4ft x 6ft welders blanket and secured with a high temp glass cloth tape.
Cut a hole for the smokestack and cable gland.
Used cedar wood fence pickets for the frame and the siding.
Finished product.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. It makes the MES look like a little smoke house. The paneling is held on by gravity, so I can slip it off if I need to. I was hoping to get to 300°F, but I'll take 275°F.
Thanks for looking
