I am going to be smoking with a portable electric twin hob and im concerned the plastic nobs may melt or any paint may effect the smoke what do you think.
 
Not sure what a hob is, but sounds like you're talking a hotplate. I'd be concerned that you'll ruin your meats taste if things started to melt.
 
That was my concern but iv been on you tube and there are several people using that method with good results. You here so often about not using treated or staining your timber smoker just got me thinking. Thanks any way. PS a hob is what us over the pond call a hot plait as you thought.
