Good Morning Y'all,

I've been visiting this site for some time and just decided to join up. Seems like there is a lot of knowledge here.

I'm from Grandview Texas. I don't have a smoker of my own yet; I always borrow my neighbors offset when I want to do my favorite...BRISKET.

I have grills and pits, just haven't settled into my own smoker yet.

I've been reading about the RF setups and would love to build one of those. And I just obtained a tank to try my hand at building one. I think my aspirations may have been a little too big though. I got my hands on a 1000 gallon oil tank and figured on cutting it in half to make myself a smoker out of. Well, once I got it off the trailer on the ground.....I realized how very large that cylinder really is. Might be bigger than I need. But...I've never built one and maybe with some suggestions and ideas from y'all I can figure out where to go from here.

Welcome to SMF!

Glad to have you with us!

Check out the RF section, there is a build calculator there that will help you out with the dimensions.
