I was trying to decide what to throw on the smoker to celebrate Independence Day and decided to ask my 6 year old daughter, she said ribs so who am I to argue especially when she gives the puppy face (she loves ribs). Tuesday night I threw them in a little marinade that was totally random with a little of this and that.
After I pulled and patted them dry the next morning I just felt like I wanted to try something different besides just my rub. That is when I thought why not spread some Skippy on first then a coat of rub. Let them sit for a couple hours in the fridge then got the smoker fired up and started thinking I wonder how can I baste or glaze with peanut butter? I found some homemade strawberry rhubarb jam and decided to make a sauce with peanut butter and jam with a touch of local honey, what can go wrong right, had to thin the sauce a little bit with liquid and just added different amounts till I liked it. Ran smoker at around 240-250 with charcoal and oak and ash, 4hrs on then wrapped for 1-2 till we were ready to eat. they were fall apart tender and just delicious with a nice little twist from normal for us, I will be doing this again with a few changes for sure. Through together some coleslaw and roasted some corn on the grill.

Peanut butter and jelly; who would have thought? They look great.
We liked them but even my kids would have liked less sauce, they prefer my normal dry ribs with sauce on the side. Next time I think I am actually use peanut butter powder and go a little lighter on the glaze and then serve sauce on the side.
Thats the fun part of experiments:)

Dude, that is about as far in left field as it gets. I would never be that creative or adventurous. Good for you and have I'm happy to hear and see that the ribs were enjoyed by everybody. Nice outside the box thinking there!

Very interesting, would have never thought to do this.
I come up with some odd ideas pretty randomly my wife makes fun of me a lot for it. I can have a plan then all of a sudden I get a weird idea such as this.
That’s definitely thinking outside the box, glad it turned out well for you
Thanks
You've got to be kidding me! That's so creative! Those are something precious there! And the ribs look good too! ;)
They are my little grilling helpers, sometimes anyways. They love helping make up the batches of rub and prep on other things like coleslaw dressing and such.

Those look awfully good to me. I don't think it's a combo that I would like, but if that's what the kiddo's requested.

Point for sure.

It sounds terrible to me, but they sure look good!
And the kiddo's are sure gobbling them up!

The kids didn't have the peanut butter input actually it just came to me, maybe too many Keystones the night before. They actually would prefer that the sauce be on the side like I usually have if any at all, they love my normal dry ribs and I just thought this would be different. Like I said they are good but I will be making some changes the next attempt. Thinking a small amount of peanut butter powder with the rub and then make more of a BBQ glaze with some added preserves with maybe a touch of PB, idea is for it to be there but more subtle.
