I been a T2D for about 16 years now. 4 shots a day and 8-10 finger sticks. Very hard to manage when you like to eat.

Over the summer my new endocrinologist she suggested that i would benefit from an insulin pump. MY pens for a 3 month period were out of pocket for me $900 and thats after Medicare and Fed BC/BS paid for the rest.....YIKES Not to mention test strips which was $250 for me.

So after many researches i told her about the Omnipod which she said for me that a great choice. So after her RX was submitted and lots of Medicare BS red tape an Omnipod was sent to me. My doc even had her teacher come to the resort to school me on it. So after all summer use my A1C has leveled out and my readings are from 100 to 157

(of course if i eat sweets it goes up) So $$ saved is huge.

The pod is the insulin delivery which is sent from the CGM. Pods are filled with 200 units of u100 and last for 2-3 days. I have been upped to the u500 this month so my pod will go for 3 days. The CGM gets info from the pod and visa versa, gives me peeps and alerts when i am low on insulin and when my pod is empty. The test strip is done right thru the bottom of the CGM and i can get the needed Bolus (insulin delivery) i need.

CGM

Pod. I wear these on the backs of my upper arm switching every 3 days.

Last month my doc said "Hey"

Would you like to try a Dexcom G3 CGM?

Yeah.

More red tape. And RX

The Dexcom is not a pump. It reads my actual BG just under my skin....YAY

I went from 8 finger sticks a day down to 1 every 12 hours.

The Dexcom also does sound alerts so i beep like R2D2

The CGM Omnipod and Dexcom meters. I have to keep both meters within 30'-40' of me.

This is the G5 sensor. Wearing on my belly for now.

So beep on.

Thanks for looking.

Technology gets better all the time.

Apple will  probably come out with a wearable watch/health monitor that will measure every bodily function in real time.
