A few months back I bought a Rib-eye around 18 #. The butcher cut six big steaks, several thin steaks for sandwiches, and a five lb roast to be reversed seared on the pellet grill.
Tonight was D-Day for two of the big Rib-eyes. Nothing special was done just grilled them on the Grillgrates.
Side note..... I polished that sucker off and the baked potatoe was no slouch either:D

Very nice job on the grill marks. I will take the end cap off the one that has the hunk of fat sticking up, bet that was a flavor bomb!

Here is what I think about them and others like them, e.g. my Charbroil's infrared grill plates aka heat emitters, diffusers or whatever.
Great for straight up grilling, even heat across the grill, less flare-up s and everything as advertised, but... BUT.
But they're horrible if you use any sauces, they clog very quickly and the sauce burns in them and can seriously adversely the flavor.

Chile, I miss typed. Meant GrillGRATES. I get the point of heavy sauces and something to considered. However my interest is cooking steaks, chops, chicken and to finsh off ribs. Thinking I could get real good grill marks with less flare ups. If this is partially solved with GrillGrates then I'll pop. I planned when I bought this gas grill to buy the these grates. However I really didn't see much discussion on SMF and haven't done so.

Yeah, I knew what you were referring to, and that's what I'm talking about. Great for straight grilling, just don't use sauces with em.
