Hi everyone. I live in Birmingham, AL having moved here from Scotland 15 (!!!) years ago.

I will say one definite rule - people outside the US generally, and the Southeast specifically, don't know what BBQ is :emoji_laughing:

I'm a stay at home dad, homeschooling our 7 year old son. I am an occasional beer and mead brewer. I do almost all the cooking, doubly so since I discovered I am allergic to wheat and rye.

I am a food preserver and have probably 7 months worth of food in mason jars in the basement.

And next month I intend buying a 3-in-1 Char-Grill smoker/propane/charcoal griller. I rapidly outgrew my little charcoal hibachi grill and want something with more horsepower, but also with fuel flexibility.

I'll spend the next few weeks browsing and reading and learning here. Thanks y'all for sharing your knowledge so generously!

Welcome from iowa! Glad to have ya. Can't wait for you to start posting

thank you again, everyone, for the warm welcome. I will be buying my new Char-Grill 3 in 1 griller/smoker early next month (August 2020) and am already planning many tests for it
