Up here in Northern Ontario we don't get days like this much but this week has been breaking records. I know in a few months I will be complaining about how cold it is but this is just nuts. This old fart and my dog say enough is enough already. Poor dog is just pooped out from the heat and no I don't have central air to cool us down. Never needed it but I just might change my mind.

Man....I feel for ya without A/C! I know what that is like...I have gone through it when a hurricane hits in August and knocks power out for weeks. I suggest buying a window a/c unit to install in your bedroom, that way at least you can get some relief holed up in your bedroom (or a room with a chair, a window, and a good book.

So far the heat wave has all been east of the Rockies and it's been relatively mild here in BC. I don't think we've had many days where it broke 30c so far.

I agree with inda, get a window rattler or a portable unit and put it in the bedroom. That way you can at least sleep at night!

Just talked to a friend from North Dakota, temp was 108 this evening and not gonna let up. Thankfully our temps aren't that high but have central air... our Dobie goes out to warm up

I feel your pain! We live at 9100 feet in elevation and it has gotten up into the mid 80's here. I know, not near what you have. To be honest, I can stand the heat, the wife can't and the dog pants too much. She made me get a window a/c unit a few years ago and I'm glad she did.

That sounds pretty rough!

I am with @ajbert, we are at 8200 ft and no AC. Been mid 80s...which is nothing to what you have. Dogs are just flopped on the floor.

To make maters worse a large forest fire about 40 miles away is creating a very hot smokey evening. Lots of fire burning in Ontario this year with no rain for a while in the forcast. 20260713_193445.jpg

I feel for ya brother... But I just can't reach ya...

Stay hydrated and in the shade... As was sais up there ^^^^ ... QUICK.. Run and get a window shaker for the bedroom...

I understand. As suggested get at least a window unit for the bedroom. Hopefully you can find one!
When we lived in Seattle area (25 years ago) few people had home A/C. Wife was stay at home with the kids and it was a no brainer to get a couple of window A/C units to cool our tri-level house for the 1-2 weeks of high temps and the evenings when it didn't drop to the 50's.
Another plus to an A/c unit is keeping the windows closed and keep out the fly ash from the fire. Thankfully you are NNE of me and those winds don't usually last that long to share the haze.

Over the July 4th weekend. The campground was at full capacity. It got bad enough. That the park courtesy patrol was going around to campers with multiple ACs. And asking us to shut down one of them. Between the ACs and people charging their golf carts. Power was dropping to 95 volts in areas. My watchdog app alerted me. So, I shut down one AC. And switched the water heater from electric to gas. We're lucky. The living area AC is ducted. So, we got by fine with just that. It's going to be nasty at work this week. Hopefully nothing major will happen. And I can stay in my office! Might break a record tomorrow.
