Any opinions on a preferable BBQ sauce for use with beef? Sweet or Vinegary / tangy? What's considered "traditional."

And, anyone recommend a particular recipe?

Thanks!

I would say it all depends on your taste, I personally just use bullseye original most of the time, sometimes just plain ketchup and sometimes nothing, i'm sure someone will be around that makes their own to help you.

I don't like sweet on beef nearly as much as I do on pork. Tangy does it more for me on beef.

Frank's hot sauce is insanely good on smoked beef (learned that one from Franklin) but I would not apply as a sauce and just serve on side. SPG and oak on beef gets you like 98% there.

Served Au Jus is my first choice. My family likes a bit off KC Bubba Q Juice. My tribute to the Molasses and Ketchup, Sweet sauce with heat...JJ

Stubbs Original for brisket sandwiches. For Tri Tip, steak and cheese steaks our favorite is Leah & Perrins steak sauce. A deglazing of the CI skillet with broth, L&P and butter poured over steak is heaven.

I like a lot of different sauces but for BBQ one of my favorites is a KC style recipe I ran across in one of the books I have for smoking meat. Tangy/sweet with a medium heat.

"Traditional" would be dependent on what area you're from ;)

I also love the mustard/vinegar based sauces on pork as well.

I never use sauce on Beef.

In a Sammy, I've been known to use a Horseradish sauce, but that's about it, unless it's a Cheesesteak, and then it would be Tallerico's Steak Sandwich Sauce.
