Last night I stopped at a friend's house to make a wonderful trade, 5# of breakfast sausage that I whipped up was traded for 2# of homemade butter, a quart of fresh cream, and 2-dozen farm fresh eggs.
He and his wife have a little over 100 acres and are almost self sufficient, but he refuses to make sausage, so I get to really enjoy the fruits of their labor by having fun making them some sausage.
So this morning, I decided I needed to put some of this to good use! I made the bride a cup of coffee and added a little of the cream to it, then started frying up some regular bacon and a little Canadian bacon, both home cured and smoked. Once those were done, I drained off most of the bacon grease and scrambled a few of those eggs.
The resulting sammich was almost heavenly!
I think I'll take a nap now.
