Hi all. A friend of mine wants to buy a new gas grill. He has around $3,000 to spend. Any recommendations on brand or specific model?

That’s a lot of money for a gas grill!!!
What is he going to do with it? That will help give a better idea for what kind of grill he needs. Guessing it’s for commercial use.

It will be for cooking at his house, he entertains a lot. He's a business owner and has money to spend. That said he doesn't want to just go and buy a name, so he asked me to find him one that's worth the money he's willing to spend.

I have a weber genesis and it’s been amazing. Everything from the building of it (pieces went together beautifully especially compared to other cheaper grills I’ve gotten in the past) to its versatility.
For his budget he should look hard at he Weber Summit S 670. I would go with weber all day long. That is one sweet grill. Has just about everything you could want. Rotisserie, sear station, smoker box for chips, lighted knobs, led meter to tell you how much propane is left, infrared burner, handle lights, stainless steel grates. Pretty nice grill. And costs $2799

Funny you mention the 670, I was just looking at that one! I have a 20 year old Weber and it's still great, I would imagine their top of the line is amazing. Thanks for the reply jb.

No problem. It looks like a great grill that would cover just about anything your friend could ever want to do. Tell him to post some pics once he makes his decision

Way too rich for my blood, but doing all this research is making want one now! Damn you rich friends!! :)

That Summit 670 is looking like the winner. I'm going to show him the Summit Grill Center too.

This is a stock photo, but the same as the one I have. I think it's as old as me and still works great. Had to replace odds and ends here and there, and it looks a little worse for wear, but functions great. One stipend for doing all the leg work picking out my friends grill is I get his old one for free! :)

So he already loves weber so he should like the Summit series.
Awesome deal for you too! Great job.

Have fun and cook some food on it!

I'm not sure what his current grill is, but it's not a Weber, that pic is of my ancient grill. Either way his is much nicer than what I have, so it will be a nice upgrade! I'll post pics when we do the swap.

The Weber grills still tops a lot of reviews, but having said that, many of these reviews don't look at the really high-end gas grills.

If your friend has money burning a hole in his pocket, and really wants to go upscale, I posted about a high-end smoker (not grill) in this thread (click on the link to view):

If you own a Rolls Royce, this is your smoker

The post is about the Lynx Professional smoker. Your friend wants a grill. However, if you go to my post and then click on the link to the Lynx site, you can check out their selection of grills.

The one thing I can say for sure about the smoking unit I saw: it was as beautifully made as any cooking device I've ever seen. It had absolutely first-rate materials, and the workmanship looked amazing. It was being exhibited at a cooking store that only sells the really high-end stuff (e.g., Wolf stoves) and the buyer there usually does an excellent job picking good stuff.

Whether it cooks as well, or better, than a Weber, I don't know.

I own a weber summit 650, a year after I bought it they came out with the summit 670, If I knew that I would have waited for the fact that the 670 has the searing station, all in all I love the the weber, very large cook area for steaks and such plus it has enough to get direct heat or indirect heat.
