Just getting into smoking. Have done a pork butt, and a brisket. Both turned out pretty good. Found this site because I'm about to build a cold smoker out of this analog masterbuilt cabinet. I don't have any of the parts to it, just the cabinet. So was gonna pipe a popcorn tin to it.

Hope you all have a great day, and I'm glad to be here. I normally just hang out on the hot pepper forum!

Welcome from Wichita, are you referring to the mailbox mod type of modification? Are you using amazing smoker from Todd for this project? Take pics and let us know how the build goes.

I was thinking about just buying one of those tube smokers at Wal-Mart. But I may get the a-maze-n.
And yes I'm not sure who but a member had posted his version of the mailbox but used a popcorn tin. And I had a couple of those laying around. My friend has some 6 inch guttering I might use for the pipe. Do you cold smoke? Is it ok to come in the bottom of the cabinet with the pipe? Or should i go through a side wall like the guys do with the one that has a chip loader? I will definitely post pics. Is there a limit on how much you can upload with a free membership here? A bunch of my early posts from Thehotpepper got messed up when postimage.org changed to postimage.cc
And that really sucks

Here is my char-griller premium kettle. It said it was a smoker too. So after a little research I wedged my old grills grate in it and added a pizza stone and water/drip pan, and some weber charcoal baskets. I've done a brisket and a pork shoulderbutt. Both turned out pretty awesome, imho.

Been scouring the net for anyone else that has one of these. It was on clearance for 74 bucks at Wal-Mart, and I really like it.

Dont think side or bottom matters more preference. IMO the side works better for me because of clearance and clean up don’t want food, grease etc dripping down the smoke chute. I use a refrigerator converted to cold smoke cheese ,summer sausage, and experiment with bacon. Therefore I haven’t done the mail box mod

Well the bottom only has one piece of metal to go through so I will probably do that.

Got 2 picnics and a shoulder butt on the char-griller now(they should sponser me lol). Daughters birthday is tomorrow. Wanted something for the parents to eat if they got hungry.
