Hey All,

Happy to have found this place! Been smoking for years on a WSM, currently getting into the pellet game. Have my eyes set on the YS640, just waiting on the ol wife’s approval. Should be here by football season. Other than that, avid waterfowl hunter and outdoorsmen. Two dogs, no kids, house just south of Portland. Great to be here!

Hi Tyler! You're in my neck of the woods. I'm in Monmouth (west of Salem, if you didn't already know). I just joined myself and am looking forward to learning a lot here!

I'm considering a pellet myself. I've been purely a stick grill person, but the fact that pellets don't have any chemical in them makes them intriguing. Especially because temperature control is so much easier. I look forward to hearing about your experiences, once you have the wife convinced. :-)

Thanks all for the warm welcome! Excited to be a part of the group. In my opinion, nothing beats smoking over charcoal and wood, but the ease of a pellet grill are real enticing. I have found myself not having the time to light up the WSM as often due to having to monitor and feed for the long cooks. With a pellet, looking forward to smoked meat on a weekly basis! The Yoder will be here by football season (Arizona State / 49ers guy), but hopefully by mid August!

(Arizona State / 49ers guy),

Guess there's no accounting for taste... Just kidding.. I live near Eugene and not a loyal Duck fan either, but do watch a lot of college ball.

Have you given any thought to adding a digital controller to your WSM? I really like my BBQ Guru for the long smokes. It gets used 2-3 times a week with my Mini WSM.

I grew up in Eugene (Santa Clara for the last seven years I was there) and am a diehard Duck fan myself. I don't mind Tyler rooting for AZ State, but the 49ers? Oh my.

What's your favorite meat to smoke Tyler? I favor beef ribs and pork butt myself.

Maybe us Oregon folks should plan a BBQ get-together sometime this summer. I think it would be fun to meet folks on the forum personally, trade war stories on smoking and BBQ, and have a good time eating the best food in the world.

I think I have to go with brisket! However, I certainly do enjoy the early part of the year when the freezer is full of duck and geese from the season!
