im new to smoking im wanting a wood smoker but dont no what to look for i love grilling so i just want to learn to smoke so lets hear whats good to start on
Even though I built my own, I know a lot of people who love their WSM. I agree too with off set models you can buy, many of them look like they are made from the leftover beer cans at any backyard BBQ. I was concerned with many models on how they would seal and hold the smoke and heat.
WSM or horizontal offset? IMHO horizontal offset is easy to determine; if it feels like you can rip it apart with your bare hands and is cheap don't get it. However, I have a lot of friends who have "cheap ones" who make good food. It's just my preference. I bought a bar-b-chef offset smoker for roughly $300 over ten years ago and it's still solid and doing great cooks after a decade in the elements and five moves. Joining SMF has expanded how I use it too. The cheaper construction wouldn't handle that abuse.
WSMs are a slam dunk. You only have to decide what size you want.
Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a partly cloudy but nice day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
