First off, I've been visiting SMF for a number of years now but have just finally decided to create an account and officially join the community!
Four or five years back (and not knowing whether I'd enjoy smoking and the world of barbeque) I started on a budget with a Brinkmann Gourmet charcoal smoker. This past winter my smoker pretty much had her last smoke and I made the decision to put her to rest.
I was truly lost as to what I would replace her with and I carefully looked at a wide variety of options: pellet, propane, charcoal, electric - I even took a good look at building my own UDS. With all things considered, I finally decided on a Masterbuilt Pro Dual-Fuel vertical smoker. The cost seemed fair and from what I've read here on the forums, there are a few simple tweaks that can be made to make this smoker go that much further. So I purchased my new smoker yesterday, did a few mods today and she's seasoning up right now as I type this.
So, thanks to everyone for sharing their tips and tricks; These forums have helped me enjoy the art of barbeque and smoking. Hopefully one day soon I will be able to contribute and help out a newbie - just as y'all have done for me these past couple of years.
Cheers!
