Haven't smoked anything since the butt June 28th

. . . 4th of July weekend was in SF with the family, last weekend was "camping" if you can call it that since we were in a cabin with electricity, shower, toilet, microwave, coffee maker and there was a pool and restaurant on site.

This weekend flying to Georgia and won't be back until 30th. Haven't had time after work to do a proper smoke . . dont want the smoker to feel neglected . . . may have to just do some hot dogs tonight just for fun.

Am going to try for my first brisket smoke the weekend of August 2nd though . . .

Dave

I feel your pain its been ten days or two weeks since I fired mine up but I'm taking care of that right now with a turkey but since I'm not doing Qview I guess it doesn't count and I'll have to smoke again this week

I also can only smoke on the weekends so I think of the week as menu prep and design time. I also discuss these recipes with my smokers to see what he thinks also

Okay, I figure I might as well go ahead and do it.

Opened the pack of hot dogs, and my daughter wanted a "cold one" so I had 7 left. Figured, what the heck, Jeff's rub goes with beef, right (the hot dog wrapper said there was beef in them

) so here is one all rubbed and ready to go.

(I did mention I was antsy/desparate, right?

Actually, I promised another member detailed photos of my Afterburner smoke can placement so . . I am just trying to help out a fellow SMF member.

Better go light the smoker.

Well . . . the dogs are on.

Sad . . . I know.

But I have resisted the temptation to spray them with apple juice/Capt Morgans -- but just barely.

Well . . . they are done . . . and I ate a few . . . and a couple went to the dog. (Yech!!)

Not sure what the problem was . . . tasted a little greasy . . .maybe some "real" hot dogs from a butcher shop instead of the store bought kind would have been better. I asked my daughter if we should smoke hot dogs again. She said

. The frozen burittos were so good I thought the hot dogs would have been better.

Oh well. I got my smoking fix.
biggrin.gif
From now on, I'll have to stick to real meat.

no that at nothin to shake a stick at-I also talk with my smoker.

I am not so much of an oven hater, as I am a believer that what starts in the smoker should finish in the smoker.

The oven is fine.........if you want a pie without smoke.
